Testemonials (Support groups)

This client went on to access further Support Groups with Respect for All funded by Rochdale CCG after this piece was written.

I was diagnosed with Aspergers in June 2013. I have suffered with anxiety for as long as I can remember (I am now 24.) For the past 15 years I have seen a number of counsellors, hypnotherapists and psychologists. Each time I received an amount of sessions, and while they offered some comfort, in hindsight I only experienced the benefits for a short period and my anxiety tended to resume. After receiving my aspergers diagnosis I contacted Respect for all, and within a week I had my first session, and attended a group meeting shortly after. I found the group to be really beneficial. Attending the course challenged my anxiety and allowed me to discuss my experiences freely with a group of people who can relate and where there is no judgment or stigma. I enjoyed each session, it was thought provoking, insightful and having the opportunity to discuss Aspergers and experiences with other people who have the diagnosis enabled me to relate to others and help them and they could potentially help me.

The group unfortunately ended after only three weeks, and despite enquiring about similar courses and 'follow ups', the most common response I've been met with revolves around a lack of funding for these groups.
I am writing this review to highlight to the reader how beneficial I found even just this short support group, and I believe I can also speak for everyone one else who attended, in saying that accessing these groups is definitely advantageous
